Perception of the environment by various sensors is an essential component of autonomous driving. A central problem for the automotive industry in this regard is the validation of algorithms which operate on sensor raw data.
Recording real measurement data on the actual road is both restricted and expensive. Successful simulation requires realistic calculations of complex sensors such as camera, radar, ultrasound, and lidar.
In the context of an internship/thesis, you will strengthen our team, contribute your ideas, and work intensively on a detailed task. This gives you the opportunity to put the knowledge you have gained during your studies into practice.
Your Tasks
- Developing and collaborating on concepts and software solutions for the simulation of automotive environment sensors
- Implementing technologies such as C++, CUDA, NVIDIA OptiX, and Unreal Engine
- Creating prototypes and visualization in scripting languages such as MATLAB or Python
- Processing various tasks in the automotive context
Your Qualifications
- Ongoing studies in Computer Science, Physics, Technomathematics, or comparable technical scientific studies
- Good programming knowledge in C or C++
- Knowledge in scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica
- Desirable, but not essential, is knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- GPU programming language, e.g., CUDA/OpenGL
- Game engines, e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity, or CryEngine
- Raytracing
- Ability to understand coherencies
- Independent and analytical method of working as well as strong ability to work in a team
- A good command of English
