Folgende Professur ist in der Fakultät Umweltwissenschaften zu besetzen:
Department of Geosciences, at the earliest possible dateChair (W2) of Data Analytics for Earth System Sciences in combination with the Head of the Department Research Data Analytics at the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) at TUD
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences unites forestry, geosciences and hydrosciences under one roof, which is unique in Germany. Overarching core topics are monitoring and modeling of the Earth system on global, regional and local scales as well as the sustainable development of the human habitat. The faculty’s interdisciplinary and international orientation creates great synergy potentials and diverse interfaces in research and teaching.
The CIDS, newly founded in 2021 as a central scientific institution at TUD and spanning all faculties, is a focal point for digital sciences with interfaces to all research fields of TUD and the DRESDEN-concept partners. Once fully established, more than 500 employees at CIDS will work on interdisciplinary scientific issues in the fields of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, data, modeling and simulation, infrastructures, system integration, knowledge extraction and transfer, and numerous other digitization topics.
You (m/f/x) will represent the field of Data Analytics in research and teaching in the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. In teaching, you will specifically support the development and establishment of the Environmental Informatics study program and the further development of the Master‘s program in Geoinformation Technologies. You provide your teaching in German and English. You are engaged in the supervision of young scientists and in the academic self-administration.
At CIDS, you will establish the Department Research Data Analytics as the TUD-wide focal point for research work on data analytics in interdisciplinary research alliances and for further collaboration in the development of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) and you will coordinate the support structures for research data management and data competencies at TUD, in Saxonian, national and international collaborations.
We are looking for you as a personality with an international scientific track record in the fields of data analytics focusing on the natural and earth system sciences, the development of research data infrastructures, and methods of research data management. You will develop innovative approaches and methods in these areas, also contributing your knowledge of Artificial Intelligence methods for data analysis. You have extensive experience in these areas through extensive publication activity in international peer-reviewed journals, the successful acquisition of third-party funding (in particular DFG, BMBF, EU and comparable), international networking and you are already active, for example, in the development of the NFDI, the EOSC of GAIA-X or comparable infrastructures. You have relevant teaching experience and experience in supervising young scientists. With regard to the leadership tasks associated with this position, we place great value on comprehensive management experience, especially in the leadership of large working groups. We are looking for a dynamic, committed, responsible researcher with a high level of motivation and relevant research experience who can help shape the profile of our faculty and CIDS in a forward-looking way and also inspire our students in teaching.
