We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied internship in data science for Performance Control & Digitalization. To take our operations to the next level, the BMW Group – Performance Control & Digitalization department is looking for a Data science intern to contribute to the Supply Chain Innovations Think Tank of BMW Group and continue BMW’s leadership in supply chain management. The goal of the team will be to research emerging technologies including Data Science (ML, AI, BI etc.).

You will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the strategic decisions of the company.
You will Integrate software components, third-party programs, and deploy programs and systems.
You will have hands-on experience with the latest technological advancements in the field of supply chain digitalization.
You will troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software and create technical documentation for reference and reporting.
You will act as a consultant recommending the latest trends in the Data Science field and work with other top consultancies to help build in-house competence.
You will present your results directly to BMW management and have contact with various leaders and bright minds across the business.
What should you bring along?
Educational Credentials: The candidate must possess, or be working towards, either a bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
Technical Proficiency: A strong command over key data science languages and tools is crucial. This includes expertise in Python or R, SQL, and preferably familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP. A solid understanding of big data technologies like Spark would also be desirable.
Machine Learning and AI Skills: The candidate should have a strong background in machine learning and artificial intelligence, with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate various machine learning models.
Sharp Intellectual Abilities: A good data scientist needs to have an incisive intellect, with excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. You should be capable of approaching complex data problems from multiple angles, generating innovative solutions, and be able to explain complex concepts in an understandable way to non-technical stakeholders.
Decisive Decision-Making: You should have the ability to make sound and quick decisions in high-stakes situations, drawing on your analytical skills and understanding of the business context. This includes the ability to choose between different modeling approaches, making trade-offs between precision and interpretability, and making decisions that align with the business's strategic goals.
Language Skills: Fluency in English is mandatory. German is a plus for relocating.
