Job description

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a world-leading internationally oriented research center, committed to discovering new approaches to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. To this end, researchers at ten DZNE sites across Germany pursue a translational and interdisciplinary strategy comprising five interconnected areas: fundamental research, clinical research, health care research, population health science, and systems medicine ( dzne.de ).

Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x)

Code 1286/2024/2

Aufgaben:

The laboratory led by Prof. Ina Vorberg studies cellular mechanisms of protein misfolding and intercellular spreading of pathologic protein aggregates associated with neurodegenerative diseases. We are specifically interested in the role of viral infections in these processes. To this end, we perform biochemical and cell biological analyses and use state-of-the-art technology such as automated image-based high-content screening (Liu et al., Nature Communication 2021, doi.org/10 .1038/s41467-021-25855-2; Liu et al., Nature Communication, 2023, doi.org/10 .1038/s41467-023-40632-z).

Become part of our laboratory team and take on exciting tasks with a focus on disease mechanisms of self-templating protein aggregates.

Qualifikationsprofil:

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow with excellent practical and theoretical skills and a strong interest in cell biological aspects of neurodegenerative diseases. The successful applicant should hold a PhD in cell biology or a related field. Experience in research on neurodegenerative diseases, virology, cell-based screening assays, and / or image analysis would be an advantage. The candidate should be able to work independently and have excellent teamworking skills. A written and oral command of English is essential.

Benefits:
  • A highly relevant research topic
  • A cutting-edge infrastructure
  • An international environment and excellent working conditions
