Job description

The Software Engineering Group (Prof. Dr. Reiner Hähnle) focuses in teaching and research on the application of formals methods to problems in Software Engineering.

Our current research includes formal specification and deductive verification of object-oriented software and the modelling and formal analysis of distributed systems with high variability.

To support teaching and research, we are looking for a committed research assistant.

Requirements

Completed University degree in Science (M.Sc./ Diploma or equivalent) in Computer Science or very closely related with very good grades.

Excellent knowledge and research experience in the following areas:

• Static program analysis based on strictly mathematically founded methods (deductive verification, abstract interpretation, etc.)
• Tracing of program flows
• Efficient encoding (memory and runtime) of data streams
• Statistical classification methods
• Good English skills and a willingness to collaborate effectively with others are essential.

Tasks

Collaboration in teaching and research in the areas mentioned above. Your research work will be particularly focused on the ATHENE project "ABC - Control-Flow Fingerprinting for Malware Detection." Within the project, you will develop methods and tools for recording program flows, creating a suitable fingerprint, and analyzing and classifying the obtained fingerprints with the goal of detecting malware.

Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.
