Are you ready to embark on an inspiring journey in the world of plant breeding and genetics? The Breeding Technology Team of Maize & Oilseed Crops at KWS SAAT SE & Co. KGaA is seeking a motivated Research Scientist (m/w/d) in Quantitative Genetics and Data Analytics to join us on a full-time and permanent basis at our headquarters in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, Germany.

As a Research Scientist, you will be at the forefront of this mission, collaborating closely with plant breeding experts, biostatisticians, trait genetics scientists, marker application teams, and the molecular genomics group. Your role will be instrumental in evaluating and pioneering new ideas and approaches to support our cutting-edge breeding programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Give Power to Data: You will support our breeding programs by applying your expertise in statistical data analysis within the realm of quantitative genetics and predictive breeding.
- Pioneer Innovation: Drive innovation by conducting research in the exciting fields of GxE interactions, envirotyping, and crop modeling.
- Conceptualize Change: Develop groundbreaking concepts and prototype new statistical approaches in close collaboration with our breeding and biostatistics teams.
- Global Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with the international maize and oilseed crop breeding and research teams, fostering a global community of knowledge sharing.
- Interdisciplinary Exchange: Engage in intensive exchanges with scientists from diverse KWS departments, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere of cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Empower Teams: Train and support maize and oilseed crop breeding and research teams in applying advanced statistical approaches, elevating our collective capabilities.
- Active Participation: Be a driving force in our community by regularly participating and contributing to working group meetings, workshops, and breeders' meetings.
Your Profile:
- You hold a Ph.D. in plant or animal breeding, plant genetics, mathematics, or statistics or hold a Master`s degree in a relevant field with several years of work experience.
- Your knowledge of plant breeding and/or quantitative genetics is matched by your unwavering passion for testing and developing new ideas and approaches.
- You possess the skills to manage large data sets, with proficiency in R software and/or other programming languages like Python, Julia, etc.
- Experience in GxE modeling, envirotyping, crop modeling, or related areas is a big plus. Familiarity with genomic prediction analytics would be an added advantage.
- Your excellent teamwork, analytical thinking, open-mindedness, and strong communication skills make you a true asset in fostering collaboration and driving innovation within our multidisciplinary team.
