Functional Safety Manager (Freelance)
Contract Until January 2025

€80 - €120 / Hour Dependent on Experience
Role Purpose:
The role involves overseeing Functional Safety Management activities within the Brakes department, ensuring compliance with the ISO 26262 international automotive standard during the development of the Electronic Brake System (EBS) to meet European Union customer requirements. This includes coordinating work package allocation within the development team and seamlessly integrating into an ongoing project.
Major tasks and responsibilities:
Plan and initiate deliverables for Functional Safety (FuSa) in the assigned project, including necessary assessments and outsourcing activities.
Develop essential documents such as the Safety Plan, Work Product Plan, Item Definition, and Safety Analysis Report.
Coordinate project deliverables in collaboration with System, Software, Testing, and Hardware management teams.
Manage the Development interface agreement with the customer, ensuring timely delivery of all relevant documentation.
Provide regular project progress reports to line management, customers, or suppliers, ensuring transparency and addressing any issues promptly.
Conduct reviews of safety process work products before closure, including customer and supplier review meetings as per agreed schedules.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of project status, progress metrics, and customer-requested documents in alignment with company strategy.
Generate assigned System or Safety Engineering work products in compliance with ISO standards.
Act as a representative in interactions with customers and suppliers.
Core skills:
Extensive experience in brake system development, with a focus on Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Electric Parking Brake (EPB) systems.
Profound knowledge of ASpice and Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262), including expertise in methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Safety Concept (FSC), and Technical Safety Concept (TSC).
Hands-on experience in functional safety analysis and contributing to the development of Safety Cases.
Basic understanding of embedded software development processes.
Strong team player with leadership qualities and experience in team mediation, possessing excellent communication skills.
Willingness to travel to customer sites within Central Europe.
Fluent in English communication; proficiency in German is advantageous.
