Doctoral student in the RG Neural Circuit Physiology

Main tasks

Are you interested in how new information is processed in the brain and how it is integrated with previous experiences?

The research group Neural Circuit Physiology is looking for a scientific doctoral student as soon as possible. The position is fully funded for three years as part of an ERC-StG and can be started as soon as possible (temporary employment until 31.03.2027, 65 percent of weekly working hours)

We are a new laboratory at the Center for Molecular Neurobiology Hamburg (ZMNH) within the outstanding scientific environment at the UKE in Hamburg.

Tasks:

• Planning and carrying out electrophysiological measurements of brain activity combined with optogenetics and behavioral experiments on mice
• Analysis and interpretation of the test results
• Presentation of the results in lectures and scientific publications

Your Profile

• Completed scientific university degree in natural sciences (neuroscience, biology, or similar)
• Experience with laboratory work and/or data analysis is an advantage
• Good English knowledge
• Self-reliant work with a high level of motivation, teamwork and communication skills
