Type of employment
Part-time
You will be working at the Cologne site on the optimisation of the mobile pump and heat transfer fluid test facility (MoPuW) for dynamic test operation. This test facility uses silicone oil as a heat transfer medium and enables versatile automated tests of heat transfer circuit components such as pumps, fittings, heaters and thermal storage elements under defined typical operating conditions as they occur in solar power plants. To investigate the accelerated ageing and maximum load capacity of the test components and the heat transfer medium, the implementation of defined temperature profiles is of particular relevance, especially in the context of cycling and shock tests.
During your thesis, you will analyse the functionality and current operating limits of the test bench in its various operating modes, develop concepts and solutions for extending the functionality, implement these in practice and test them. The optimisation will focus in particular on upgrading the electrical heating system with the following subtasks:
The scope of the planned work, the typical ongoing test operation on the system and its practical components are suitable for optionally preceding the actual thesis with an internship of several months or a temporary student job, and/or for focussing the work according to your qualifications.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives.
