Vattenfall GmbH is currently looking for a
Working student power system modelling – Market Insights for our office in
Berlin .
To deliver on this ambition, we are looking for strengthening the Market Insights team with a working student to support our fundamental modelling activities!
The Market insights team is part of the Strategy & Business development (S&BD) department which operates at a corporate level in Vattenfall. The main deliverable of the team is the Long-Term Market Outlook (LTMO), a scenario-based framework for power price development, which is used throughout Vattenfall for strategic decision making and asset valuation.
What you will do?
You will be part of a collaborative international team with experienced, driven, and supportive colleagues. Furthermore you will work on:
- Running a commercial fundamental model of the whole European power system including sensitivity analysis
- Support decision making on model parameters such as
- The price impact of different geographical scope and resolution
- The impact of different types of future energy mixes on prices setting and emission targets
- The impact of time granularity on the accuracy of the results
- The impact of cost assumptions such as CAPEX, OPEX, hurdle rates, etc
Qualifications
You enjoy analyzing energy market fundamental drivers and make a direct link to modelling of the European electricity system. A cooperative and creative thinker with the ability to evaluate market data as well as communicating with modelling stakeholders. Next to this you bring:
- Studying an energy or sustainability related topic such as power engineering or mathematics or similar, holding a Bachelor degree is a plus
- Thorough and reliable way of working
- Solid way of documenting your analysis
- Quick understanding of complex topics
- Curiosity to understand modeling details and impact of different parameters
- Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing
- German language skills are a plus
- Commitment for at least a year
