About the position & the team:
Wikibase is the software underlying Wikidata, the world’s largest linked open data project. The Wikibase Suite team is working on expanding the availability and diversity of linked open knowledge accessible to the world by providing a self-hosted version of Wikibase. It is used by both individuals and large institutions to create their own linked open knowledge bases, tailored to the unique needs of their communities. Wikibase Suite is currently used by GLAMs (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums), research groups, and the public sector alike (Wikibase Showcase, EU Commission and Lingua Libre announcements).
As the UX Researcher for Wikibase Suite, you will be part of an interdisciplinary product team (your user focus) and the UX team (your support structure and community of peers). For more information, check the strategic direction developed for the Wikibase Ecosystem and the institutions vision of a Linked Open Data Web.
The mission of the UX team is to deliver high quality open source tools that empower users to contribute to the Wikimedia movement, regardless of their background or ability. The role will report to the Head of Design and is part of the design team that currently counts six total UX designers and researchers.
