We are seeking a highly reliable, detail-oriented, and organized Laboratory Technician to join our team in a microbiology laboratory from 01.01.2024. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be mainly responsible for ensuring the provision of all essential laboratory resources, including buffers, media, agar plates, and competent cells, to support the research and development activities in our lab. Your role will be crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of the laboratory and supporting scientific projects.
Your tasks and responsibilities:
- Prepare and sterilize various types of media and buffers according to established protocols.
- Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
- Utilize electronic lab notebook software to record all media and buffer preparations, including batch numbers, dates, quantities, and any deviations from standard procedures.
- Preparation of competent cells and performance of quality control tests to assess the competency of prepared cells.
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot routine laboratory equipment.
- Provide assistance in warehouse operations, including receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming shipments.
- Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and guidelines, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, decontamination procedures, and maintenance of clean work areas.
- Participate in regular safety training sessions and stay up-to-date with biosafety guidelines and regulations.
What you ideally bring with you:
- A completed apprenticeship as a MBO/HBO/BTA/CTA/MTA or a completed B.Sc. degree in a comparable field
- Pleasure in clean and precise work
- Reliability and the desire to take responsibility for your own work
- Openness to software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and laboratory programmes for laboratory equipment as well as electronic laboratory books
- The goal of working in a start-up company for the long-term
- Fluency in english language
- Work experience helps, but is not a must. We are open to talents at the start of their career
You can expect:
- A brand-new biological safety level 1 laboratory from 2020
