What is a Solution Engineer at Salesforce? nto relevant, actionable and value-based recommendations, plus importantly to become a trusted technical advisor to prospects/customers.
Also known as a "Presales Consultant," "Sales Consultant," or “Sales Engineer”, the Solution Engineer is a key member of the sales team, responsible for leading all aspects of the technical sale, as well as delivering product, technology and industry thought-leadership to companies wishing to digitally transform their business processes and their customer experiences. The Solution Consultant is an experienced industry expert who works closely with the account executive team, professional services team and customer success team to configure, build, demo, architect and articulate the value of our innovative industry solutions to our prospects and customers. In short, it is the Sales Engineer’s role to secure product/technology selection.
To accomplish this, you should have a strong desire to set an energy & utilities industry-specific digital vision, translating business objectives into relevant, actionable and value-based recommendations, plus importantly to become a trusted technical advisor to our prospects/customers.
Your Responsibilities
Own the end-to-end pre-sales cycle including:
Customer discovery
RFx responses & bid management of complex proposals
Construction of demonstrations, with potentially complex configurations
Delivery of product demonstrations, utilising your deep knowledge of energy supply and utilities processes.
Coordination of complex PoCs, hackathons and integrated custom demos
Present complex, technical solution & architectural concepts to key decision makers to address their business challenges.
Perform as an experienced pre-sales professional who is as comfortable presenting systems architecture to a room of enterprise architects, as you are explaining the business value of our solutions to C-level executives.
Present compelling Salesforce & partner solutions, and support strong partner relationships.
Comfortable working with some of the largest energy suppliers and utilities in EMEA.
Personality Attributes/Experience
Track record of solution engineering, consultancy, delivery or training for a software solution organisation. We are open to a variety of backgrounds for this position.
Extensive experience of working in the domain of Energy & Utilities
Comfortable working in a geographically distributed team
Excellent oral, written, presentation and communication skills
Proven time management skills in a fast-moving & dynamic team environment
Inquisitive, self-motivated, practical and passionate about technology and sharing knowledge
Like to be the first to know something, plus understand why and how things happen!
Good at searching out information, experimenting and problem solving
Good at explaining ideas and finding ways to keep people’s attention
Comfortable and capable of delivering demos and presentations remotely
A natural storyteller
Willing and able to travel
Have a strong interest in growing your career and participating in our internal training programs and mentorship initiatives
Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, etc.)
Certifications & Qualifications
Essential: Experience with web development and integration using technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, AngularJS, CSS, REST, JSON and XML.
Essential: German speaker.
Desirable: Holding the following certifications: Salesforce Omnistudio Developer, Industries CPQ Developer.
Desirable: Previous experience selling or implementing one or more of the following; Salesforce Energy & Utilities Cloud, SAP IS-U, Oracle CC&B, Lodestar, Microsoft, Hansen, Mecoms, UMAX, Powercloud, Kaluza, ENSEK, Gentrack, Flux, Kraken or similar electricity, gas, and water industry applications.
Desirable: Demo2Win certified
