Job description

JOB CONTEXT

The Process Technology Manager is accountable for implementing new technologies and products and optimising existing processes. The individual also provides support in correcting problems or troubleshooting.
The Process Technology Manager evaluates trials and production runs to improve the production and communicates closely with the production team to assess problems and improvement possibilities; working at the site in Bentwisch, Germany.
The person supports the TUMN (Thai Union Marine Nutrients) team on health, safety, and environmental evaluations and – dependent on the education – supports the Laboratory Team in executing analyses in case of heavy workload.

Job purpose

• Lead 1 Process Specialist
• Improve the refinery processes with the help of the production team and the Omega-3-Center in Bangkok
• Documentation and Reporting of Trials and Production runs
• Support the Production Team in running the oil refinery process to produce high-quality omega-3 acids from various raw oil sources
• Initiate and plan lab and pilot tests in the Omega-3-Center in Bangkok together with the lab team
• Support the implementation of new production processes for new products
• Increase productivity through the support and development of the production team
• Monitor and evaluate new process technologies on the market
• Manage engineering projects and ensure new installations comply with FSSC 22000 standards
• Work with engineering companies to establish new processes
• Work closely with TUMNs Engineering Manager
• Act as a Project Manager in smaller projects
• Prepare procedures, reports, and plans
• Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation
• Responsible for performance management, professional development, and routine documentation
• Support the TUMN team on health, safety, and environmental questions and evaluations

Key Tasks

• Improve production processes of the TUMN refinery with the help of the Omega 3 Center
• Provide process engineering support for the implementation of changes to the operation of the Bentwisch Plant
• Manage Documentation of Changes and Evaluations
• Ensure engineering work compliance with FSSC 22000 standards 
• Communicate with Engineering Companies and other 3rd party company

• Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with manufacturing operations in the food industry.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production, maintenance, and customer needs
• A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Highly motivated, results-oriented, driven.

Education & Qualification

• A degree in engineering e.g. chemical, mechanical, biotechnology, food science and techniology or similar.
• Good IT skills. Siemens and SCADA training is an advantage
• Experience in oils/fats/lipids and/or (liquid) ingredients is an advantage.
• cGMP and/or FSSC 22000 quality training/experience/knowledge is advantageous.
• Working proficiency in English; German skills are an advantage.

Experience

• Work experience in process engineering, process optimisation and process technology, preferably in lipids or ingredients/foods/chemicals.
• Management experience, direct or indirect
• FSSC 22000 and/or cGMP/GLP experience
• Audits with third parties
• Start-Up experience

Special factors

• The nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of regular working hours.
• From time to time, the PTM may be required to attend training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs & the needs of the service.
