Job description

At the Fraunhofer IPT, the »Precision Technology and Automation« department is concerned, among other things, with the thermal stabilization of machine tools and robots in production. The aim here is the further development and optimization of production machines and processes. With the help of sensor-based assistance systems and artificial intelligence (e.g. artificial neural networks), reliable predictions about the machine condition are to be made. The areas of application include the detection and prediction of thermally induced displacements, which often lead to defective components and poor surface quality.

What you will do

• Collaboration in current industry and research projects in the field of networked, digitalized production
• Execution, evaluation and documentation of experimental test series
• Programming of software for automated data acquisition and processing

What you bring to the table

• You are studying mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics, automation technology, computer engineering science (CES) or a comparable subject
• You have good knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C#, Java)
• Initial experience with CAD design and first experience with CFD simulation desirable
• A high degree of motivation, independence and team spirit
• Good language skills in German and/or English
