ABOUT THE ROLE
The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is currently seeking a part-time Policy and Advocacy Assistant. This role would suit a student or a recent graduate, especially in the area of public policy or political science.
TI-S requires part-time, temporary support capacity to effectively implement the Clean Money in Elections (CME) project, funded by Global Affairs Canada. The project is jointly implemented with national chapters from Colombia, Indonesia, Madagascar, Panama, Sri Lanka, Venezuela and Zambia. CME seeks to address the weak transparency of money in elections and politics that prevents a level playing field for women political candidates and enables undue influence in policy making, both globally and in six of the aforementioned countries. Through the project, TI-S and the co-implementing national chapters in the six countries, will:
·generate sustained public demand for transparency of money in politics and overcoming financial barriers faced by women politicians;
·facilitate political engagement towards reform for greater transparency, integrity and equality in political finance regimes, and
·develop innovations for monitoring and implementing these regimes, allowing for country-specific adaptation, prioritisation, sequencing and peer-to-peer learning across borders.
The role requires a highly motivated professional with a good understanding of project management and monitoring, excellent communication skills, and interest in political finance, elections, and gender equality and social inclusion (GESI).
