Venture Team and Job Description

Our venture team Momentum Transfer is working to modernize materials science workflows. Through partnering facilities, we provide access to the world's brightest X-ray sources for advanced structure characterization methods aimed at materials discovery and optimization. We are in Germany, collaborating with large scientific infrastructures across Europe, and interfacing with a global market.

The venture is looking for a senior full-stack software engineer (m/f/d) to join the team. You will be responsible for developing the user interface for a cloud-based analysis platform and data pipelines to connect to real experiments. The interface will serve as a portal for clients to request experiments, receive data, and interact with applications for advanced analysis. You will help implement tools for data visualization, analytics, and simulations.

The successful candidate can join us locally in the Stuttgart/Mannheim area, or remotely (in Germany). The possibility to travel for periodic meetings in-person will be expected to help drive forward a collaborative working environment and team mentality.

Your Role

• Take responsibility for architecture decisions
• Build, test, and ship features using modern frameworks such as Svelte
• Implement and integrate APIs for external systems
• Participate in concept development
• Take responsibility for high quality code and long-term maintainable software
• Work in a test-driven and user-oriented fashion

Your Experience

• >5 years of production experience with user-facing web applications
• Experience with architecting state-of-the-art SPAs
• Profound knowledge of service-oriented architectures
• Tech stack
• Svelte (and/or, e.g., ReactJS, Angular, Vue, etc.)
• Python
• Node.js
• PostgreSQL
• Good communication skills in English, at least above B2
• Interest/experience in any of the following is a plus
  • Scientific data processing
  • Natural and applied sciences (e.g. physics, chemistry, etc.)
  • Computational/statistical analysis (e.g. machine learning/AI, etc.)
