The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization was founded in April 2023, with the objective to reduce operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects. MO is building the best-in-class engineering and operations team that will own the day-to-day operations for AWS Regions; improving the availability, reliability, latency, performance and efficiency to operate AWS regions.

Amazon is looking for a highly motivated Systems Development and Operations Leader to drive the technical operational efficiency for AWS. The role will be responsible to manage team’s that own operational problems, excellence, and support goals for AWS Regions. We are seeking an operations manager with strong technical skills, problem solving abilities, deep customer affinity and communication skills, to lead our operations/engineering organization.

Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.

Key job responsibilities
This is a highly visible role that requires both business acumen when working with senior management, a strong technical background for understanding systems and database engineering practices, and technical depth for removing development roadblocks.

You will interact with a broad cross section of the Amazon organization as you trace through complex interconnected systems to improve the overall operational stance of the organization and root out any issues uncovered along the way.

Building and Leading the System Engineering team that own building innovative solutions to operational problems and driving measurable Operational Excellence improvements across the entire organization.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- At least 4 years experience in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
- At least 4 years of system, network and database engineering experience.
- At least 4 years of experience involvement with development team(s) that delivered commercial software or software-based services (development, QA testing, or security role).
- Minimum 4 years of experience with technical product management in a software development environment utilizing lifecycles such as scrum, waterfall, or agile.
- Strong experience and detailed technical knowledge in system, database and network engineering.
- Development experience in Java, TypeScript, Python, and/or Ruby.
- Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, routing protocols).
- Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Germany.
