As a QA Lead (m/f/d) at IU, you will play a pivotal role in leading the QA > Automation efforts across our clusters. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering / Head of Quality Engineering, your primary focus is implementing automation and being an SME of QA, harnessing your advanced technical expertise to enhance the effectiveness of the team and acting as a consultant in your team, using your advanced domain knowledge to problem-solve.

Your tasks
Lead Testing Function:
- Maintaining frameworks for functional, performance, API, and accessibility testing to drive 100% automation testing across your cluster with oversight from Core engineering
- Using your domain knowledge to be an SME, providing technical oversight and assisting Head of Engineering with fundamental decision making
- Establishing continuous testing and quality improvement, taking ownership of testing in your cluster
Ensure Product Quality and Reliability:
- Lead efforts to identify, prioritise, and track software defects, working closely with product management and engineering teams to drive resolution
- Collaborate with the DevOps team to ensure end-to-end quality across the software development lifecycle
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in QA and testing, and drive continuous improvement in QA processes and tools
- Working with Core engineering team to improve tooling and processes across all clusters
- Experience in RCA, ensuring learning from failure are put into practice and not repeated
Drive a Quality Centric Culture:
- Advocate for a strong quality culture within IU, promoting a mindset of quality ownership and continuous improvement
- Educate and train engineers on best practices in QA and testing and foster a culture of quality throughout the development process, pushing a shift left mentality
A significant part of your role will be fostering a culture of technical mentorship, conducting comprehensive code reviews of automation frameworks, and maintaining robust quality frameworks. Aligned with IU's customer-centric approach, you play a critical role in delivering maximum business value to our customers, driving continuous experimentation and learning within the team. Working with the Head of Engineering in your cluster and the Head of Quality Engineering, you ensure the team's technical policies align with our broader technology strategy. Furthermore the role will involve close collaboration with Product Owners, Engineering managers, and DevOps.
Your Profile
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, frameworks, and best practices, with experience in driving automation testing and proven track record of driving quality in software products
- Experience in implementing and managing QA tools and technologies (optional: in a cloud-based environment)
- Previously worked with a headless CMS system and performance testing tool K6
- Extensive experience building and maintaining reusable frameworks in Cypress / Playwright
- Expert knowledge of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD processes
- Strong leadership, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.
