PhD positions on planning and learning for automated driving

Beschreibung
We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, curious, and keen to work in a team with excellent peers in a larger project. The positions are fully funded (TV-L E13 100%). Knowledge of the German language is not required and international candidates are encouraged to apply.
In particular, we strongly encourage women and people of underrepresented minority groups to apply.
The candidate should have:
Master’s degree in computer science, robotics, machine learning, or a related field
Strong mathematical background
Programming skills in Python, including in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow (programming experience in C++ is a plus)
Excellent communication skills in English
Prior research experience in (ideally) several of the following areas:
- Reinforcement Learning and planning - Scene understanding - Multi-object tracking and prediction - Graph neural networks - Causal representation learning - Uncertainty estimation in deep networks - Self-supervised and unsupervised learning Please send your curriculum vitae and (unofficial) master’s transcripts with an expression of interest via email to nrapplications @ cs.uni-freiburg.de as soon as possible.
