The Legal and Compliance department at LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH (LGE) is responsible for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, as well as the European B2B division and the European Headquarter consisting of totally nearly 500 employees. The position reports directly into the Head of Legal in Germany.
Scope of work: Provide legal counsel to LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH (LGE) and its branches in Austria and Switzerland in all general civil law and commercial law matters as well as data privacy law and corporate law issues, including:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating various types of domestic and international commercial agreements and other legal documents related to a variety of trade, commercial, and operational matters to ensure protection ofLGE’s legal and business interests.
- Review LGE’s public statements and marketing materials from the legal perspective to identify, anticipate and mitigate (legal) risks. Liaising with and preparing materials for external legal counsels to ensure effective protection of LGE’s interests in legal proceedings.
- With the support of external counsel, represent LGE in legal proceedings before courts, governmental bodies or other private and public authorities to ensure protection of LGE’s interests.
- Support of thedata protection officer, especially for implementation and maintenance of the GDPR in cooperation with the external/internal data protection officer.
- Training of the employees in all relevant legal topics including general legal compliance, anti-cartel/competition law, data protection law and other legal and compliance topics.
- 1 st state exam with above average results. 2 nd legal state exam is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years post-qualification legal experience in a law firm or preferably in an in-house position
- Very good knowledge of German civil law and contracts and willingness to familiarize yourself with adjacent areas of law, data protection laws and regulatory provisions
- International legal or commercial professional experience and/or education (L.L.M., MBA or similar) will be favorably considered
- Fluent in German and English
- Highly developed commercial and business interest
- Customer-oriented approach, ability to manage deadlines and to deliver on time
- Sense of pragmatism, humor and proactive can do attitude
