Free-space optical communication (FSOC) is a technology offering advantages over established radiofrequency communication, i.e., higher bandwidth, lower power consumption, and higher link security. However, well-known limiting factors are signal distortions that are caused by atmospheric effects such as turbulences. We want to characterize these effects by tracking unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

We are looking for hosting a student to implement software in our existing infrastructure that allows arbitrary tracking paths. The work includes code development, testing, and documentation. The result will be a working software that generates files for UAV-tracking.

The thesis shall comprise the following tasks:
