This is a fixed term-position of three years with the possibility of extending the contract (position for academic qualfication corresponding to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG; opportunity for PhD project).

The Power System Dynamics group of the department is looking for additional staff for the research project IGISTIN (Advanced Grid Interface for innovative Storage Integration) and for supporting in research and teaching. The work is embedded in a motivated and cooperative team tackling current issues of the energy transition.

The project proposes to develop grid integration architectures for energy storage with on-site renewables and emerging DC end uses. This includes the DC coupling approach considered in current PV + storage hybrids, extending it to include end use, grid users and system integrators as well as hybrid grid coupling approaches. With an optimized combined grid coupling, industrial grid users can benefit from the avoidance of additional hardware, reducing costs, improved operational efficiency, flexibility and self-consumption as compared to the mere parallel AC connection approach.

Tasks:

• Scientific work in the research project AGISTIN, especially with regard to grid forming control for resource-effective utilization of generation, load and storage; Development of simulation models and conduction of the corresponding investigations.

• Independent research in the field of power system stability and dynamic simulations

• Services in research and teaching of the subject area

Requirements:

• Completed course of academic study (Master degree) within the fiel of Electrical Engineering, Economic Engineering, Physics or related areas. The required degree must be available by the recruitment date at the latest. The degree required for this position must have been obtained by the starting date at the latest.

• Good knowledge of the English language

Advantageous and desired qualifications:

• Proficiency in the modelling of power system components and simulation of dynamic processes, ideally in EMT

• Experience with power system calculation and simulation software, ideally Matlab/Simulink, especially Simscape

• Knowledge of control theory

• Programming skills

• Laboratory experience

• Self-reliant and thorough manner of working

• Team working skills

• Good organizational skills

• Proficiency in German
