You have experience in certification or development and are open-minded with good communication skills? Then join the Airworthiness Office of Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth as Certification Qualification Engineer (CQE). You will become part of the Chief Airworthiness Engineer’s (CAE) Team and support the safety of our products. You will manage Certification, Qualification and initial Airworthiness activities for your program; this includes new helicopter type certification, changes to existing helicopter type certificates and flight clearances.
In addition you will take the role of Data Custodian for Initial Airworthiness Certification in Germany. In this position you will act as the department’s focal point for department data compliance & data quality management. You will also represent the department towards the data officer and transversal entities (security functions, data governance entities).
As a member of the CAE Team you are part of many concurrent and transversal projects covering the complete range of airbus helicopter programs. You act as focal point for the Airworthiness Authorities with whom the certification basis, certification strategy, means of compliance and authority involvement is negotiated. You are responsible to ensure demonstration of compliance to the applicable airworthiness requirements, to ensure the in-service safety of the helicopters and for leading the certification and qualification activities necessary to meet the development and delivery milestones of the helicopter program.
You will be in direct contact with the Chief Engineering team, the different key contributors from the Design Office and Support Services, as well as with the Aviation Authorities.
This role is also available with reduced weekly hours (minimum 30) and an adapted scope of tasks.

At our Donauwörth site, located on the banks of the river Danube, we develop helicopters from the initial idea to the airworthy product. Watch them take off and touch down on our own on-site test airfield.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Support in / leading of the certification and qualification activities, including all associated project management tasks (planning, reporting, risk management…)
Establish the certification requirement baselines and type design definitions for future evolutions of the helicopter and coordinate their harmonization
Develop and harmonize (internally / externally) the certification & qualification programs, including the identification of the Means of Compliance and associated demonstrations of compliance.
Manage the Airbus Helicopters Airworthiness network to ensure certification objectives are met
Validate those demonstrations of compliance and harmonize them with Authorities
Release airworthiness documentation to the Aviation Authorities or perform approvals in accordance with Airbus Design Organization Approval (DOA)
Participate in data compliance operations: Support and drive export control license requests, data assessments, data cleanings
Be responsible for deploying/creating Data Governance processes & Referentials within the Airworthiness function
Raise the function’s data potential through data knowledge, quality & governance e.g. by contributing to departmental data cataloging
Collaborate with the Airbus and Airbus Helicopters Airworthiness and Data Governance networks to standardize data governance methods through the group and ensure objectives are met
Desired skills and qualifications
University degree (Bachelor or Master/Diploma) preferably in aeronautical or mechanical engineering
Experience in the certification/qualification and/or development of aircrafts/helicopters and/or aircraft /helicopter systems
Experience in handling of (military) data their collection, management and categorization
Experience in working with transnational teams and/or managing such project teams would be appreciated
Being able to communicate complicated topics to others and analyze complex situations to find the right next step
You are driven by the wish for continuous improvement and have a problem solving attitude
You are good at organizing and coordinating as well as motivating and inspiring others
Language Skills: English and German - business fluent, Knowledge of French could be a plus
This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
