Job Description

Keysight Technologies, the world's leading electronic and photonic measurement company, is looking for a part-time (10-20h per week) working student who can support our R&D activities. The successful candidate will have a background in optics/photonics and is willing to work with us for at least one year. There will be a possibility to extend the contract and also to do a BSc/MSc thesis afterwards.

Responsibilities

• Perform opto-electronic testing of optical components and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs)
• Develop Python scripts to automate tests
• Analyze experimental results and evaluate component/system performance
• Participation in meetings with colleagues to present and discuss results

Required qualifications/skills:

• At least 4 completed semesters in electrical engineering, physics, optics or related discipline
• Fundamental understanding of active and passive optical devices
• Practical experience in an electronics/optical laboratory
• Programming experience in Python/Matlab or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition
• Ability to work in a team and present results, also to international colleagues
• Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentation
• Fluent English language skills

Preferred qualifications/skills:

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, physics, optics or related discipline
• Practical experience with Keysight measurement equipment
• German language skills
