The successful candidate will be employed under a regular employment contract.The position is to be filled at the earliest possible date and offered for a fixed term of 4 years.This is a full-time position.The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree in this position.The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (TV-L).The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.

Unser Profil

The Junior Research Group “CAD-oriented simulation in real time for digital structures” has been established recently at RWTH Aachen University through the RWTH Junior Principal Investigator program funded by the Excellence Strategy of the Federal Government and States. The group focuses on the development of computational techniques for real-time simulation of structures and is hosted by the Chair of Structural Analysis and Dynamics. The position is advised by Dr. Margarita Chasapi, as well as Prof. Sven Klinkel as co-advisor. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on relevant research topics, attend conferences, workshops and research stays.

Ihr Profil

We look forward to candidates that fulfill the following requirements:

• University degree (Master or equivalent) in engineering, computational methods or related discipline.
• Experience with programming (e.g. in Matlab, Python, Fortran etc.).
• Knowledge on advanced discretization techniques (e.g. isogeometric analysis), model order reduction and/or machine learning would be a plus.
• Interest in addressing problems in numerical modeling and computational mechanics.

Ihre Aufgaben

The project focuses on the development of a computational framework for rapid simulations that facilitate optimized design and advanced monitoring tasks for structures. The tasks related to the position include:

• Development and implementation of fast numerical techniques for structural mechanics problems.
• Explore the integration of simulation data and machine learning.
• Application of developed framework to optimize the design of structural components.
• Contribution to teaching and advising of student theses.
