Department of Ophthalmology

as soon as possible

full-time or part-time (25 hrs / week); initially limited until December 31, 2027 with the option to extend for a further eight years

Your salary will be based on TV-L

Your tasks
For the new German Research Foundation (DFG) CRC 1607 "Towards immunomodulatory and anti(lymph)angiogenic therapies against age-related blinding eye diseases" starting in April 2024 we are looking for postdocs (100 % E13 position) and PhD students (65 % E13 position) for different research groups of our consortium. The position will initially run until December 31, 2027 with the option to extend for a further eight years.

Your Profile

Our Offer
The CRC consists of clinician-scientists and basic scientists from ophthalmology, immunology, genetics, oncology, imaging etc. all devoted to ocular (lymph)angiogenesis and immunological research and translation.

Your future with us
Working at the University Hospital Cologne and the Medical Faculty means helping to shape the future - the future of medicine, of patients and, of course, your own future. You benefit from 60 clinics and institutes as well as numerous other departments and facilities and more than 12,000 jobs. The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cologne and the University Hospital Cologne assume important social tasks in research, teaching and patient care. A close network with many university and non-university partners guarantees an internationally successful science and the excellent education of our students.

Your future in detail
Our CRC 1607 (funded initially from 1.4.2024 - 31.12.2027) is unique since there is currently no other (inter)national center that primarily focusses on the role of lymphatic/blood vessels and immune cells as the cause of, and new therapeutic target in, age-associated ocular diseases. Our new CRC 1607 is gathered around the perspective that within 12 years, significant progress in disease understanding and translation into clinical care can be achieved.
