About the Role

This underwriting and analytical role is situated within the CorSo Property & Specialty Underwriting Centre which from a governance perspective oversees the following Lines of Businesses (LoBs): Property, Engineering & Construction, Aviation, Marine and Agriculture.

You will be primarily responsible for overseeing, controlling, and monitoring the Marine LoB, driving and contributing to bottom line portfolio performance in collaboration with our underwriting leadership and other stakeholders. Support to other LoBs within the Property & Specialty unit may also be expected.

Key responsibilities :

• Own all key Underwriting Centre related tasks for Marine LoB including e.g.:
  • Regular review and update of governance framework, in particular LoB specific guidelines, processes, rules etc.
  • Execute and lead post-bind underwriting deal review, audit activities.
  • Act as key point of contact and ownership for requests specific to Marine LoB from various key internal and external stakeholders
• Own and drive the external Managing General Agent (MGA) relationship specific to our Marine business.
• Drive central portfolio management performance report-outs for Marine LoB
• Manage deal referral handling activities.
• Support P&S and LoB Heads with monitoring and adhering to the risk control framework (RCSA) specific for Marine LoB, regular exchange with Risk Management etc.
• Frame underwriting insights and detect trends which lead to specific actions to improve and/or protect profitability.

Our overarching ambition is to ensure sound underwriting practices are followed, understand the drivers behind sustainable underwriting performance by generating/sharing insights and deriving tangible actions in order to steer and support LoBs globally.

You will play an active role helping shape future direction of portfolio related matters.  You are expected to act with a high level of team spirit, dedication, and focus.

About Underwriting Centre Team

We are a dynamic team which works independently from our regionalized business, but closely with key global and regional stakeholders to support the development and profitability of our portfolios.

We provide an impartial global view to all stakeholders and deliver global LoB product and portfolio management support. We maintain sound governance around underwriting processes, systems and tools as well as provide operational support to the Global Line of Business Head Property & Specialty.

About You

• You have (re)insurance underwriting experience in Special Lines, preferably Marine LoB
• Ideally, you have already worked closely on risk management and/or governance related topics in the past, and/or have worked with MGA partners.
• University business degree qualified in associated field.
• Solid understanding of financial portfolio reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high aptitude for numbers and mathematics.
• Affinity for utilizing new technology to support sustainable data management and data usage.
• You have a flair to turn topics which may be perceived unclear into tangible actions, findings etc.
• Self-motivated to drive and own topics independently.
• You have creative and dynamic mindset with a can-do and self-ownership attitude.
• Ability to prioritize and apply sound commercial judgment.
• Fluency in English compulsory; other languages would be an asset
