Department Insights "RWE Supply & Trading is the interface between the RWE Group's operating companies and global wholesale markets for energy and energy-related raw materials and is a leading European energy trading house".
We as "Site Reliability Engineering" Team are positioned within RWEST IT with our team members located across Essen(Germany) and Swindon (UK).
System Engineer role is focused on providing and maintaining 24*7 mission critical value chain applications and infrastructure with emphasis on areas of root cause analysis, identifying problematic areas via monitoring solutions(Dashboards) and providing support 'out of business hour'. It focuses on continuous improvement of applications processes through enhanced automations and extensive monitoring of services, logfiles. Their goal is to work closely with business and IT stakeholders in quick issue resolutions in the context of an Incident Management, Problem Management, CI/CD deployment.
Your future plans - Communication management towards stakeholders and strategic thinking to derive roadmap/delivery plans of the applications
- Steers and provides operational support by analysing application logs, researching problems and coordination with various application teams for Root cause.
- Provides periodic analysis and setting up of automated monitoring solutions to enhance the workflows with Azure DevOps pipelines.
- Continuous improvements of processes through e.g. innovative ideas, enhanced automations/monitoring with platforms like Elastic(Kibana), RPA etc.
- Root cause analysis for fixing problems permanently by debugging the components.
- Gather specific requirements from business and embedded IT teams to provide solutions via working in incidents and service requests.
- Coordination and work closely with business and IT stakeholders in quick issue resolutions in the context of an Incident Management, Problem Management and configurations/User Management.
- Provide Initial Bug Fixes, Change Requests and enhancements for supported applications.
- DevOps and Cloud: Automate the build, test and deployment of different components with Azure DevOps pipelines and container standards such as Docker, Helm and Kubernetes.
- Migration of legacy application to Cloud based projects (AWS) / Multi-account setup etc.
- Readiness in shift rotations with 24*7 oncall and occasional travel required.
Your powerful skills
- Experience in any of the programming languages like Java, C#, .net core or any framework like Camel, Maven, etc.
- Knowledge of any messaging bus like ActiveMQ, Kafka etc.
- Hands-on experience working with API's (e.g: Swagger IDL etc.)
- CI/CD deployment pipeline involving Azure DevOps, Team City, Git, Jenkins etc.
- Hands-on experience in working on monitoring tools ex: Elastic, Graffana, Cloudwatch
- Experience in at least one scripting language (powershell, python) and exposure to database (ORACLE, MS SQL, MongoDB, Postgres or Snowflake).
- Able to lead a team and provide best practises to peers and take the team along
- Ability to work well under pressure and Strong communication.
- Demonstrated ability of good analytical skills and soft skills to communicate and collaborate within a team
- Basic knowledge in customer support , requirements analysis and alignment with existing systems.
- Interest in gaining IT Operations best practises and DevOps
Advantageous
- First experience with supporting large IT applications and/or basic knowledge in Energy Trading Domain is an asset.
- Knowledge with AWS infrastructures and services (e.g. Lambda, S3, Kubernetes, EKS, EC2, CloudWatch, Containerization) is an add on.
- Experience in IaC (e.g. Cloudformation, CDK and / or Terraform)
