Reference No. 2024/034. The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Sciences, subject to the approval of the University Council, seeks to fill this position by April 1, 2025.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The research focus of the professorship should be organometallic chemistry and, in addition to preparative aspects, include current research areas, for example sustainability such as (photo- or electro-) catalysis. The professorship should complement the research activities of the Department in chemical materials science. It should also intensify the collaborations with related disciplines and strengthen current ties with the Departments of Physics and Biology. Participation in existing and planned collaborative research projects is expected. We are looking for a person who can represent the subject of inorganic chemistry in all degree programs of the Department of Chemistry. Requirements for employment are a doctorate, a postdoctorate and outstanding publications in international peer-reviewed journals. In all other respects, the hiring requirements for tenure track professorships follow from § 51 paragraph 2,3 and § 51b paragraph 1 of the Landeshochschulgesetz. This advertisement is aimed at young scientists at the end of their postdoctoral stage, in particular those with experience in managing and financing their own research group. The advertised W1 assistant professorship position is associated with tenure track for appointment to a W3 professorship. On positive evaluation, tenure as a W3 professor will be granted after completing a simplified professorial appointment process.
