Job Description
Senior System Engineer (Safe Positioning System) As a fast-growing System Engineering team within Safety Critical Product organization, we are applying our best research and engineering capabilities to new products for which not only positioning performance, but also integrity and safety matters. Nowadays satellite-based positioning technology is widely accepted and integrated within many non-safety-critical tasks in mass-market applications, such as mobile phones and automotive infotainment, and also in some safety-critical tasks within dedicated limited-market applications especially in general aviation. We are pushing the technology further to meet high standards of safety-critical tasks within future automotive mass-market applications aiming to highly automated and autonomous driving.
As a
Senior System Engineer for Safe Positioning System, you are responsible for system engineering and analysis of the integrity and safety of intended function (SOTIF) of Safety Critical Positioning System. With your experience and in-depth knowledge in the domain of GNSS navigation, sensor fusion and statistics you are the expert for providing positioning integrity. You are familiar with statistics, applied adjustment theory, Kalman filtering, and variance modeling. You feel responsible for testing, documentation, quality control and maintenance of the source code and you coordinate the support to our application engineers in debugging and providing workarounds of nonconformities. You are able to lead the draft of new technical concepts, evaluate their feasibility and derive specifications. As a member of international multi-site team of specialized system, software and testing engineers you contribute to the next generation of u-blox’s innovative and competitive safe positioning systems.
The role can be located in Tampere, Finland; Chemnitz , Germany
Your Responsibilities - Contribution to or technical lead of research and development in the discipline of GNSS integrity
- Research of safe and integrity positioning solutions, emphasis on Sensor Fusion (IMU, wheel odometry) and high precision (Correction services, SBAS, RTK and/or PPP-RTK)
- Assure the safety of the intended function (SOTIF) by applying industry standard methodologies for proofing this.
- Specification, design and verification of receiver integrity
- Preparation of technical documentation
Your Skills and Experience - PhD or MS in geodesy, communication systems, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics / applied mathematics, or equivalent education.
- Sound standing knowledge and years of experience in GNSS technology and related technologies
- Statistics and adjustment theory
- Kalman Filter
- Sensor Fusion
- Functional Safety (IEC61508, ISO26262, DO178B or similar), SOTIF (ISO21448) and Product Security (ISO21434 or similar)
- Profound scientific and engineering skills
- Knowledge in the following areas:
- Embedded software development
- FMEA and FTA
- Digital signal processing, Navigation and Telecommunications
- Programming languages and tools:
- C / C++ , Python
- Subversion, GIT or other version control software
- Matlab / Octave
- Ability to work as a member of bigger projects. Flexible team player.
- Good communication skills (oral and in writing) in English and corresponding local language
Bonus Point (if applicable, not mandatory) - AUTOSAR Adaptive Software Development
- Systems Engineering or Requirements Engineering certification (e.g. IREB, INCOSE)
- Automotive Development expertise
- Experience in Jira/Agile Work Management (as developer)
- Experience with Requirement tools as Jama, PTC, Doors, etc.
- ASPICE or CMMI and Functional safety standards application
- Experience on Analyzing Algorithms/Concepts according to ISO21448
- Experience in test-driven design and continuous integration
- Experience in working within a regulated industry
