The Leibniz-IPHT is a university independent research institute with close connection to the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and member of the Leibniz association. As a part of The Thuringian research group "New dysprosium fibre light sources and multimodal fibre probes for life sciences and medicine in the optically visible wavelength range" we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher.
Job description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team in the field of optical fiber design and simulation. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our understanding of optical fiber properties, with a specific focus on design optimization and simulation methodologies.
Your field of activity includes:
Optical Fiber Design: Lead the development and optimization of novel optical fiber designs for specific applications, considering factors such as signal transmission, dispersion, and polarization.
- Simulation Expertise: Utilize advanced simulation tools and software, including but not limited to FiberDesk, to model and analyze the performance of designed optical fibers. Investigate various parameters influencing fiber behavior and propose innovative solutions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, including experimentalists and other simulation experts, to integrate theoretical designs into practical applications. Foster collaboration between simulation and experimental efforts.
- Publication and Documentation: Contribute to the preparation of research papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences. Maintain detailed documentation of simulation methodologies and results.
Your qualification:
- Ph.D. in Physics or material sciences with a strong emphasis on optical fiber design and simulation
Desired knowledge and skills:
- Proficiency in simulation tools such as FiberDesk, COMSOL Multiphysics, Lumerical FDTD Solutions or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience in designing and optimizing optical fibers for specific applications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English

Salary:
Salary is in accordance with the regulations of the TV-L and your qualifications and experience.
