The department for Safety Critical Systems and Systems Engineering researches technologies and design methods for future aircraft systems. The main focus is on the components and the architecture of the flight control system and electrical energy supply systems. A major cost driver in the development of new aircraft systems is the verification of functional safety for system certification. Complex test benches are currently being set up and used for this purpose. The vision for the future is to replace these complex test benches with simulation-based tests. For this it is necessary to provide trustworthy simulation models.

As part of your job, you will develop new methods for creating trustworthy simulation models for aircraft systems with the purpose of using them for simulation-based verification. You validate these models using test benches in the department based on test runs with real hardware. In addition, you specify test strategies for simulation-based verification and derive requirements for the models from them.

• completed scientific university degree (diploma (Univ.) / Master) in the field of mechatronics, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering with a relevant specialization
• good knowledge in the field of simulation and modeling of dynamic systems
• good knowledge of a modeling and simulation environment for dynamic systems, e.g. MALAB/Simulink, Modelica or Python
• basic knowledge of FEM and/or CFD
• very good knowledge of spoken and written German and English
• Experience in the area of modelling and simulation of aircraft systems is an advantage.
