The Institute for AI Safety and Security provides research and development services in the field of AI-related methods, processes, algorithms and execution environments. The focus is on ensuring safety and security for AI-based solutions in ambitious application classes. “Safety and security by design” is a central aspect in this context, since it directly supports future requirements of safety-critical applications that are based on AI or integrate AI-based components.
Main Research Areas of the Institute for AI Safety and Security are:
The Department for Safety-Critical Data Infrastructures of the institute deals with data and information quality as well as the foundations for the development of secure, decentralized data infrastructures. One main area of the department is the development of methods and technologies with a focus on data sovereignty and semantic interoperability for critical and sensitive application scenarios.
Data spaces represent a contemporary form of decentralized data organization. In this context a certifiable, modular, and thus decentralizable data quality assessment plays a decisive role.
Ontologies offer the possibility of mapping the semantics of data quality models and thus lay the foundation for the implementation of a service for use case-specific data quality assessment in data spaces.
The work for this master thesis is divided into the following tasks:
Literature research and compiling a state-of-the-art overview for ontologies of data quality models
Conceptualization and creation of an ontology for representing data quality models according to existing standards (f.i. ISO/IEC 25012, 25024, and 5259, ISO 8000, W3C dqv, …)
Development of user interfaces for the ontology such as API, GUI and a visualization tool for the ontology elements
Compile a concept of how the ontology can be used or integrated in a tool for evaluating data quality in a data, with a focus on the organization, merging, application and evaluation of data quality measures.
