Location
Frankfurt (Oder) | Germany
Job description
About The Role
The FDM Apprenticeship Programme offers you the opportunity to start your career in technology while also studying towards your undergraduate degree. Based in one of our internal IT teams, this is the ideal first step into the industry. You will learn how to support and configure different types of IT equipment and services in-house before putting your training into practice working on cutting-edge projects with one of our industry-leading clients. Our programme starts in
September of each year so we are looking for people who are in their final year of A-levels (BTEC or T-Levels) and completing this summer. We are also interested to hear from anyone who has already achieved the academic entry requirements required and are available to start in April – you might have taken a year out, be working or have started a degree and are exploring alternative routes to university.
Annual salary: Year 1: 18,000 (London)
Overview of the FDM Apprenticeship Programme Your time on the FDM Apprenticeship Programme will be divided between working remotely and in-person at our
London office , whilst studying part-time at
Northeastern University London for your Bachelor of Science degree in Digital and Technology Solutions. Initially you’ll work on live IT System projects at our FDM HQ in London before having the opportunity to earn more experience working alongside our client partners within their businesses.
After three years, your Apprenticeship will lead to a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital and Technology Solutions. Depending on which IT specialism you choose, you might be working in IT Support at our clients, working in other areas such as software development, protecting the company from cyber security threats, building virtual robots to do repeatable jobs, analysing data, or testing systems to make sure they are ready for users.
Overall, the programme will enable you to learn the role of a technologist and the environments they work in, which will include:
- Establishing, building and growing relationships with FDM staff through effective communication, and providing a friendly professional service to them.
- Learning how to carry out your work in line with FDM policies and practices.
- Helping users with their accounts: setting up new accounts, closing redundant ones, resetting passwords and managing the security and privileges the users have on their accounts.
- Ensuring that our IT assets are managed and audited.
- Installing various user hardware across the offices (laptops or display screens or printers).
- Creating and managing user accounts, especially in relation to making sure new accounts are created for new starters and closed when staff leave FDM.
- Providing important troubleshooting and support for our users when they are using key systems such as Windows 10 and Office 365 to do their day-to-day work.
- Building PCs and laptops from scratch and installing and configuring all of the software our office staff requires to do their jobs.
- You’ll also get the opportunity to go ‘backstage’ and work with the networks and the large servers we use.
FDM is a global company. The staff that work at FDM depend on you and your team to have IT systems that work and allow them to do their job. So, you could be helping a user in London one minute and then, straight after, someone from Singapore, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Australia or North America or anywhere else in our global FDM community.
