Data Analyst – Inside IR35

Contract Term: 6 months with potential for extension

Contracting Authority: DEFRA - Animal and Plant Health Agency

Location: Hybrid – UK wide.  

The role provides an opportunity to work with senior leaders across the Data Unit to transform the way APHA approaches performance and insight. This role will involve working with specialists and IT professionals in a programme of work aiming to modernise the collection, sharing and use of various data sources in preparedness for producing agency wide performance and scorecard MI reports, with associated insights and visualisations.

Developing your own specialist experience to help use the right data in the right way and continue to grow our analytical capabilities.

As a Data Analyst your main responsibilities will be to:

• Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders across APHA and Defra as well as other colleagues across the Data Unit to understand requirements regarding available data and visualisation and implement and maintain the relevant data processes and outputs.
• Undertake the development of internal and external automated reporting to ensure data / information can be easily interpreted and utilised to improve services, reflecting the needs of all stakeholders.
• Share insights and key messages derived from analysis to a range of audiences, such as drafting briefings for senior stakeholders.
• Absorb and synthesize large amounts of information quickly into performance insights, using a range of information sources to derive insights and answer performance questions.

Essential:

• Experience of working in data insight projects that involve multi-disciplinary teams to improve service delivery.
• Experience in the use of multiple data management, manipulation and visualisation tools eg. Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, CRMs, Hubspot, NetSuite, Google Analytics.
• Proficient with handling and analysing data and using Data visualisation to communicate insights.
• Experience applying analytical processes to synthesise multiple sources of qualitative information for decision making.
• Experience in the application of and usage of data software in a scenario situation, and translation (visualisation and communication) of technical data into advice for a non-technical audience.
