Vanilla Steel is a VCbacked startup headquartered in Berlin that has successfully established a leading B2B marketplace for the metals industry across Europe with the mission of simplifying how steel and other metals are traded today.
As a team of young international and passionate professionals we are always on the lookout for new talents to unlock the next phase of our growth.
We are now looking for an outstanding individual to join our Berlin office as a Junior Trader responsible for the German market working closely with senior management.
Tasks
As a Junior Trader your primary objective will be to increase the P&L of the DACH region by sourcing and executing profitable transactions. This will require a combination of analytical skills and effective client interaction.
Your role is pivotal in enhancing Vanilla Steels growth and establishing robust profitable operations. You will engage in diverse company activities specifically tailored to align with Vanilla Steels evolving business needs.
You can expect to:
- Manage DACH markets with a particular focus on Germany the biggest market for metals in the European region
- Generate brokerage and trading activity on behalf of Vanilla Steel
- Ensure thorough followup on deals coordinating with the operations team for seamless logistics and payment processes
- Leverage existing client relationships. Be a key account manager for our German customers with both supplier and buyer coverage
- Proactively reach out to potential new clients initiating cold contacts and arranging meetings to expand our customer base
- Manage operational activities of the trading platform such as preparing transactional data and order confirmations
- Analyse and report on operational processes to increase efficiencies and scalability
Requirements
- Ambitious entrepreneurial and targetdriven mentality
- Strong analytical skills structured thinking and handson attitude
- Solid organizational capabilities
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills together with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
- Between 0 and 5 years of experience in sales and account management. We are happy to consider young graduates as well as steel veterans!
- Professional proficiency in both German and English is essential for this role. Knowledge of other languages is highly valued
- Proficiency in using CRM tools (Hubspot preferred)
- (Preferred) A track record of achievement in closing deals as a trader or in a digital marketplace
- (Preferred) Experience in the metals industries

Note: Due to the nature of this role which involves extensive interaction and handson trading activities with other team members we require an inperson commitment at our Berlin office.
