Dr. Dorota Kmiec at the Institute of Molecular Virology (directed by Profs. Kirchhoff and Münch) at Ulm University Medical Centre is looking for a highly motivated

PhD student (f/m/d)

to work on a project aiming to discover and characterize the mechanisms responsible for innate immune evasion of human coronaviruses. The project will involve cutting edge molecular biology techniques and diverse cellular and biochemical assays, as well as advanced in vitro infection platforms.

Required qualifications and skills are:

• Master or Diploma degree in Molecular Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, or related subjects
• Strong interest in immunology, virology and molecular biology
• Self-​motivated work, maturity and personal responsibility, effective self-organization, independent thinking and information seeking, interest to solve complex scientific problems and excellent communication skills

The successful candidate is expected to work under BSL2 and BSL3 conditions following strict safety guidelines. We welcome applications from people with disabilities if the requirements to work in BSL3 facilities can be met. Prior experience in working with human pathogens and cell culture are advantageous but not essential.
