Your position and department
The position of Scientist Biomarker Discovery (m/w/d) is embedded in the biomarker discovery chapter at Roche Diagnostics R&D. This unit is focusing on the biomarker discovery for different fields of clinical application and disease areas and top-tier technology development. Biomarker candidates discovered are targets of prototype assay development for implementation in clinical study assessment.
Your work will focus on the following aspects
In the R&D group of biomarker discovery you will analyze large “-omics” datasets from internal and external sources. You will work at the leading edge of diagnostic biomarker science and support global units with innovative solutions in t he area of biomarker hypothesis generation applying various bioinformatics approaches.
Design and implementation of algorithms for processing multi-omics datasets like gene expression data, protein expression profiles as well as display or array based readouts and their analysis in disease specific manner
Elaboration of concepts for multi-omics data integration and establishment of machine learning based models as well as pipelines for biomarker discovery and leading and accomplishment of projects within broader disease-related cross-functional programs and moreover assessment and evaluation of cutting edge technological approaches for biomarker identification
Coordination of your approach with interdisciplinary project teams and experts from diverse subject areas as well as external partners (academia as well as companies)
Finally, you will be part of a highly motivated team having profound experience in the field of discovery defining targets for biochemical assay development and using state of the art methods, equipment and facilities
Who you are
You bring a doctorate and Post-Doc in bioinformatics or a similar area
Your experience and deep understanding of implementing disease biology, statistics, and requirements for experiments or clinical studies improving biomarker discovery design is of high value to us
You have excellent knowledge or experience in:
Programming or with large -omics bioinformatics tools, data annotation and curation
Applying, generating and adapting bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis of sequencing data from various technological applications of RNAseq (e.g. bulk, spatial, single cell, epigenetic or metagenetic) as well as proteomics and other single cellular approaches
Application of machine learning and multi-omics data integration methods
Translation of complex problems and gathered experience in workflow development
