At the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with more than 530 employees every day to make the production of the future more digital, more flexible and more sustainable. In the department »high-performance cutting«, we improve traditional machining processes through data-driven solutions. Presently, privacy-preserving methodologies are being implemented, driven by concerns of data sensitivity and security. 
As a student assistant you support our team in developing secure digital twin solutions for the turbomachinery industry.
Here you partly work on your tasks on site in our institute / in our machine park.

What you will do

• Support programming data pipelines and developing microservices for a digital infrastructure
• Support investigations of federated learning applicability in machining applications
• Conduct the design of experiments and measurement campaigns on 5-axis milling machines

What you bring to the table

• You are studying mechanical engineering, computer science, CES or a comparable subject
• Solid background in programming is essential (e.g., python, react, nodejs, vue.js or typescript) 
• Hand-on experience with deep learning and web development is advantageous
• A high degree of motivation, independence and team spirit
• Good language skills in German and/or English
