PhD student in Biological, Clinical, and Health Psychology

The Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE) brings together expertise from the humanities, linguistics, cognitive sciences, social and educational sciences. People from across 20 disciplines are working within the Faculty. Along with the disciplinary approach a very ambitious interdisciplinary research culture has been developed.

The faculty’s research and teaching focuses on social, economic, political  and educational issues with the common goal of contributing to an inclusive, open and resourceful society. The FHSE offers six Bachelor and twenty Master degrees and a doctoral school providing students with the necessary knowledge and high-qualified skills to succeed in their future career.

Your Role...

This PhD position will be located in the project “Interoception of bodily sensations across organ domains and its relevance for somatic symptoms” (INBODY), co-funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg (FNR) and the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) (PI: Prof. Dr. André Schulz). The objective of the INBODY project is to investigate organ-specific interoception, its predictive value for the development of physical symptoms, and new interoception-based trainings to reduce symptom distress. The PhD candidate will join the Research Group “Brain-Body-Interaction” and the Clinical Psychophysiology Laboratory (Head: Prof. Dr. André Schulz) within the Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences. Enrolment in the Doctoral School of Social Sciences is obligatory for the candidate.

What we expect from you…

The candidate should have experience in or at least be interested in several of the following areas:

The candidate has to integrate into a multilingual research team. She/he must, therefore, have excellent command of the following languages (written and spoken): German (required for clinical interviews), English (communication within the research group, dissemination), and French (optional). The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
