Job Description

As part of the Thermal team, you will support the end-to-end responsibility for product developments, with your role being a mix of project management support, thermal technical issues and thermal modelling. Thus, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Performing thermal analyses and thermal tests on satellites, payloads, instruments, mechanisms, and other space equipment;
• Performing thermal analyses for satellites, payloads, instruments and mechanisms;
• Performing plausibility checks and manual calculations to validate the analysis results;
• Supporting the development of the thermal control system, its subsystems and components;
• Simulating and monitoring thermal tests, such as thermal vacuum and thermal balance tests of satellites and their components;
• Knowledge of cost management (e.g. budget, risk and schedule) for thermal activities Application of SYSTEMA/ThermicaDesign software packages and development of thermal hardware (heat pipes, thermal straps, thermal switches);
• Documentation of all activities, mathematical models and analysis and test results Personal Requirements.

Qualifications

You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:

• Minimum of Bachelor`s degree in Engineering;
• Knowledge of design and definition of thermal hardware (Heat Pipes, Thermal Straps, Thermal Switches, Thermal Diodes, Phase Change Materials, etc.);
• Further qualifications and knowledge of conductive and radiative heat transfer processes;
• Understanding of orbital mechanics and the solar system;
• Understanding of thermal material properties;
• Willingness to travel regularly;
• IT knowledge in the use of SYSTEMA/Thermica and/or ESATAN-TMS is an advantage;
• Knowledge of CFD tools for thermal analysis is an advantage;
• Knowledge of the PYTHON programming language is advantageous;
• Knowledge in the field of cryogenics is an advantage;
• Knowledge in the field of optics is an advantage;
• Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of German or another European language will be considered an advantage.
