Unser Profil

The Chair of Management, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Peter Letmathe, is based at the School of Business and of Economics at RWTH Aachen University. The focus of our work is on interdisciplinary and application-oriented research. We are also responsible for research into management accounting approaches for digital and structural transformation processes, value creation controlling and business modeling. In teaching, we are responsible for various courses in the areas of financial and management accounting using innovative teaching concepts. In addition to high-ranking research projects, our chair is characterized by a highly motivated and international team. We work in a family-friendly environment with short decision-making processes in the heart of Aachen.

Ihr Profil

Requirements for the position are a University degree (Master or equivalent) and a completed PhD. Furthermore, very good didactic skills are expected. In terms of methodology, economic knowledge of sustainability accounting, life cycle assessment and investment calculation methods extended to include external effects is desirable. Suitable applicants are expected to contribute their expertise to a cross-faculty, interdisciplinary postdoctoral group, where they will also be involved in science management and the promotion of young researchers.

Ihre Aufgaben

The post-doctoral position is to be filled as part of the "Built and Lived Environment (BLE)" profile area funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. This researches the sustainability of real estate in its life cycle, which includes the development phase, the use phase including flexible conversion options as well as circular economy approaches. Our focus is on issues relating to the "NRW Region-Wasser-Bauen" competence network and the "net zero city Aachen" cooperation area. Economic decision-making rationales are supplemented by aspects of ultra-long-life investments, where the economic planning horizon is shorter than the lifespan of the corresponding investments. The associated extensions to conventional decision-making processes help to identify BLE solutions that are desirable for the development of a sustainable real estate sector.
