Job description
The research group Numerical Analysis and Scientifc Computing designs and analyzes numerical methods for partial differential equations, with a special focus on equations from fluid mechanics.
Your tasks
You are involved with a subproject of the TRR 154 „Mathematical modelling, simulation and optimization on the example of gas networks“, in which several subfields of applied mathematics interact. In the specific subproject extensions of the compressible Euler equations to gas mixture models are investigated with respect to their structure. Based on this, you will develop robust numerical methods and analyse them both theoretically and practically by means of numerical experiments. A primary focus is on the structure preservation of the method, including an entropy inequality and providing robust approximations of solutions in the large friction limit. Additionally, attention will be given to the coupled system on networks.
Your qualification
Requirements
In addition, solid programming skills in Matlab or Python are desirable.
What we offer
Opportunity for further qualification (doctoral dissertation) is given. The fulfillment of the duties likewise enables the scientific qualifications of the candidate.
The Technische Universität Darmstadt intends to increase the number of female employees and encourages female candidates to apply. In case of equal qualifications applicants with a degree of disability of at least 50 or equal will be given preference.
