The MP (Mercedes-Benz Cars Procurement & Supplier Quality) division is responsible for an annual purchasing volume in the double-digit billion range and ensures the quality of the corresponding components. In partnership with around 1,500 suppliers in Germany and abroad, the necessary materials are provided for the Mercedes-Benz Cars/Vans production plants worldwide. Locations in Germany, South Africa, China, India, Mexico and Argentina ensure proximity to production. New challenges exist in particular in the areas of autonomous driving, connectivity and alternative drive systems.
With our new Center MP/D (Direct Procurement Semiconductors), we want to position ourselves for the future in the medium to long term through direct purchasing, supplier quality assurance and capacity management of semiconductor components. In a direct business relationship with semiconductor manufacturers, technological, commercial and strategic aspects are to be taken into account in order to ensure a sustainable supply. We are not only involved in innovations and new developments right from the start, but are right in the middle of the value chain.

These challenges await you:
- As a buyer for high-performance SoCs (system-on-chip), you will work in a technically very demanding and international environment
- You will be the mouthpiece for manufacturers, distributors and foundries, develop supply and hedging strategies and negotiate specific direct awards in cooperation with the development and existing Mercedes-Benz purchasing departments
- Due to the high importance of SoCs in our control units, you will have a profound insight into the Mercedes-Benz vehicle architectures of the future and actively participate in the design and implementation of autonomous driving and in-car infotainment
- In addition, you will develop global commodity and supplier strategies for high-performance SoCs and develop the world's most powerful sources of semiconductors in terms of cost, quality, availability and development and manufacturing expertise
- Your tasks will include negotiating contracts and prices with industry-leading semiconductor manufacturers
- You will independently and autonomously develop preventive measures to secure the supply of our Mercedes-Benz plants and influence the stability of the global supply chains of our electrics/electronics suppliers
- As a Mercedes-Benz representative, you will be in direct contact with various industry-leading suppliers in the semiconductor industry worldwide on a daily basis and build and maintain essential partnerships
- You may have the opportunity to travel to suppliers on site, especially in Asia and the Americas
- Through independent negotiations with suppliers, you will make a direct contribution to the corporate success of Mercedes-Benz
- Through the use of lessons learned, you will lay the foundation for the development of purchasing processes for semiconductor direct procurement
Qualifications
Ideally you are qualified for this job:
- You have a degree in engineering, (business) informatics, technical or business administration - preferably with an international focus
- You have several years of specialist and project management experience in line and cross-divisional functions in operational purchasing in the automotive industry
- In particular, you have purchasing and process experience for electronics, passive components, as well as knowledge of semiconductor technologies and associated manufacturing processes and know the supplier market accordingly
- You are business fluent in English and ideally speak another foreign language and are interested in other cultures
- Communication and innovation are your personal tools for success and you can quickly grasp, analyze and structure complex issues. If you are also assertive and enjoy working in a conceptual and structured manner, you are an attractive candidate for us!
