About this opportunity

To strengthen our development team in Darmstadt, we are looking for you as a

Software Engineer (C++) (m/f/d)

As a skilled Software Engineer with a focus on system programming, you will be part of a team of 3-7 developers working on 3D dental software features. You will play a significant role in overseeing development tasks, participating in technical discussions, mentoring other developers, and ensuring compliance with high-quality software development standards. Your work will influence the productivity, agility and ultimately the long-term prosperity of the entire development organization.

Key Tasks Include:

• Collaborate with a team of developers to plan, oversee, and implement development tasks
• Participate in technical discussions within and outside the team, and act as a mentor for less experienced team members
• Develop software in C++ and C#, including contributing to software architecture design and review
• Provide code reviews, advice, and coaching for developers on various skill levels
• Develop and review fundamental algorithms, data structures, and subsystems
• Write automated software tests and testing infrastructure, as well as platform-independent code and components
• Perform error analysis, debugging, correction, and low-level performance benchmarking and optimization
• Contribute to the development of guidelines and processes, drafting modern and applicable best practices for the team and the entire organization
• Collaborate with DevOps to maintain a working CI and release pipeline, and support quality management with input and feedback

Personal skills and experience :

• Bachelor level studies in computer science, software development, or equivalent qualification
• At least 5 years of experience of directly relevant work experience
• Ability to understand and solve complex, multi-faceted problems
• An engineering approach to software and a commitment to reducing technical debt
• Independent, autonomous personal working style
• Clear and adaptive communication style, open to receiving feedback
• Ability to make and communicate technical design decisions on your own

Methodology skills and experience:

• Strong understanding of software architecture, design principles, and API design
• Strong proficiency in algorithm development and data structures
• Good understanding of agile development methods, DevOps, and CI/CD processes

Technology skills and experience:

• Strong experience with the C++ programming language
• Good experience in Windows and Linux development, with a solid knowledge of these platforms
• Good understanding of the C# programming language or a similar language
• Experience in programming language interoperability patterns and technologies, ideally C++ and C#

Optional but helpful experience:

• Experience with 3D software
• Experience in the dental industry
• Familiarity with cloud development and architectures
