Novolen is part of the globally active Lummus Technology group that also has an emphasis on Green Circle technologies with a focus on polymer recycling. In addition to developing, elaborating and offering process and plant concepts for the production of polypropylene, our range of activities also includes the development and optimization of polypropylene catalysts and propylene polymers, their testing and evaluation, as well as technical consulting and support for licensees on our way to zero carbon processes.
For our research laboratory in
Ludwigshafen am Rhein / Germany we are looking for a
R&D Synthesis Lab Technician (m/f/d) to join our R&D team at earliest date possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Synthesis (among others esterification, hydrogenation, Grignard reaction), isolation (distillation, column chromatography) and characterization of organic and organometallic compounds for catalyst development
- Instrumental analysis: Characterization of polymer/catalyst samples (among others GC, microscopy, particle-size distribution, NMR), recording of results
- Implementation of projects in the field of synthesis, including summarizing and recording results in written form
- Recording and evaluation of results in LIMS and/or laboratory notebooks
- Ordering of equipment/chemicals
- Creation of work instructions and method descriptions
Qualifications:
- Completed training as a chemical-lab technician or chemical laboratory assistant or bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a strong synthesis focus
- Experience in organic and organometallic synthesis is mandatory, in particular handling air and moisture sensitive material
- Hands-on laboratory experience and familiar with handling of hazardous substances especially under inert gas atmosphere (Schlenk technique, glovebox)
- Basic knowledge in the field of instrumental analysis (e.g., GC, IR, NMR, HPLC)
- Ideally several years of professional experience in an equivalent position
- Distinct ability to work in a team and high self-motivation
- Independent, reliable, structured and self-reliant way of working
- Familiar with MS Office software package (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Fluent in German; good language skills in English is a plus
