Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary group 13 TVöD [Collective agreement for the public service]; 39 hours per week)
for a limited period of 3 years.
Within the framework of a research project, investigations are being carried out on the combustion of hydrogen and oxygen in steam. In parallel to the experimental work, numerical flow simulations will also be carried out to enable a deeper understanding of the processes and to design future burner configurations based on the knowledge gained.
Aufgaben:
- Carrying out numerical simulations of the combustion processes of hydrogen and oxygen in steam with commercial CFD programs, including geometry creation and meshing
- Evaluation and validation of the results
- Implementation of models to represent the turbulent flow processes and / or the chemical processes
- Analysis of the results, implementation of parameter studies
- Assistance in teaching to the extent of basically 3 trimester hours per week
- Possibility of further academic qualification (e.g. doctorate or habilitation)
- Carrying out general administrative work as well as academic activities in academic self-administration
Qualifikationsprofil:
- A completed university degree [Diplom (univ.) or Master] in mechanical engineering or a related field of studies, preferably with a specialization in fluid mechanics and / or combustion
- Knowledge of turbulence and mixture modeling, ideally also in the application of PDF-transport equation models.
Furthermore desired:
- Experience in numerical flow simulation, if possible in the field of turbulent reacting combustor flows
- Knowledge of foreign language in English with a proficiency level that corresponds at least to the language level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner
- Initiative, teamwork and communication skills
- Strong interest in scientific work and ability to teach

The employment is based on the TVöD in conjunction with the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz [German Act on Fixed-Term Scientific Contracts]. In principle, the activities correspond to pay group 13 (E13). Classification up to pay group 13 of the TVöD shall be made in accordance with § 12 of the TVöD with regard to the activities to be performed on a more than temporary basis and the fulfilment of the personal or collective agreement requirements (job characteristics).
