Job Description

Augmented reality (AR) technology has emerged as a promising next-generation display platform.  To enable its potential for an everyday use, the development of ultra-compact, lightweight optical components is key. One of these key components is the light source, which combines primary color beams into a single beam. At Bosch, we develop new concept for next-generation laser modules with ultra-compact size and reduced alignment effort.

• During your master thesis, you will evaluate and develop a new laser module design.
• You will simulate the optical system and analyse alignment tolerances.
• Later, you will be able to build a laser module prototype and characterize its properties.
• Last but not least, you will conduct independent research and present results in publishable manner. 

Qualifications

• Education: Master studies in the field of Photonics, Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or  comparable
• Experience and Knowledge: in optical studio (Zemax), diffraction optic simulation, experience in micro-optical setup and measurement technology; Lumerical is advantageous
• Personality and Working Practice: reliable and communicative team player
• Languages: verygood in English or in German

Additional Information

Start: according to prior agreement
Duration: 6-12 months
