Head of Journals Publishing (m/f/d) Hogrefe is an international science publishing group specialized in psychology and mental health. With more than 500 staff worldwide, we publish psychological assessments, books, and scientific journals. We are excited to offer an opportunity to join and, as Head of Journals Publishing (m/f/d) , lead a team that is responsible for publishing a portfolio of 23 scientific journals in the field of psychology and mental health. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Göttingen, Germany, with some remote work possible and some travel necessary. You will be the primary contact for the journals and so will work with leading academics, as well as with your team, other colleagues at Hogrefe and business partners, to develop and expand the portfolio. Your responsibilities Lead a team of production, workflow, and marketing staff based in Göttingen, Germany Work closely with business development, sales, and editorial departments, as well as with other companies within the Hogrefe Group Liaise with and build relationships with academic editors, scientific associations, and other stakeholders, including by arranging and attending editorial board meetings Work with and build relationships with business partners, including distributors, library consortia, discovery and indexing services, platform providers and other suppliers, and industry bodies Meet financial targets and budgets Work with stakeholders to increase visibility, citations, and representation in indexing services of the journals Expand and adapt the existing portfolio in light of current developments in the journals ecosystem, including by transitioning journals when appropriate from German to English and from hybrid to open access Follow developments in research funding and science publishing, especially open access and open science mandates, publishing workflows, identifiers, technologies, etc., and apply this to ensure sustainable development of the journal portfolio Your profile Education to university degree level or higher, preferably in psychology or a related science Excellent communication skills in English (native-speaker level) and working knowledge of German Proven knowledge of journal publishing business models and processes Experience in a leadership role in scientific publishing A team player who is happy to work with a diverse group of internal and external colleagues We offer Opportunity for a leadership role to expand and further develop a successful journal portfolio and to shape it for the future A team of friendly, experienced staff who are looking forward to benefiting from your ideas and experience An attractive salary and benefits package and flexible, hybrid working hours A modern office environment in an attractive historical university city We are looking forward to your application!
